On this page you will find my writing ranging from academic work on theatre dating back to 1981, writing for and about performances over the last three decades, links to radio compositions commissioned by BBC Radio 4, collaboration with artists and associates, fiction and extracts from a long-running sequence of essays that take their bearings from the history, lore and lost loves of the Essex Estuary: Happiness is Green Shield Stamps.

I have always considered this writing to be work associated with something, or engaged in action, (never standing alone), like the ampersand that joins two diverse objects of attention.

My writing is also conducted through various forums such as X (formerly Twitter), an Instagram feed ‘Hidden King’s’ linked to Life at King’s (a comms project across the King’s College London campuses), print journalism (with The Independent, Times Higher Ed), radio and TV interviews, and political interventions where I create lyrics and scenes for specific circumstances dedicated to social justice. I am always interested in hearing about struggles for radical inclusion and joining causes that progress opportunities for those otherwise excluded or marginalised from governance and representation.
